I added this horn to my new touring motorcycle in addition to the factory horn. The manufacturer advertises 139 dB for this product, but if you go to the manufacturer\’s site and search the fine print, it was measured at 4 inches. Normally, audio products are measured at a distance of 1 meter, not 4 inches.

If you measure this horn at the canonical 1 meter, it is @ 120 dB.

10dB difference is perceived by the human ear as being 2X as loud. 20dB difference would be perceived by the human ear as being 4X as loud. The difference between 139dB and 120dB would be perceived @ 4X as loud, but in this case, it is @ 4X quieter than what was advertised using standard measuring techniques.

My factory horn is a lower frequency than the 2 higher frequencies in this horn, so the combination made a 3 tone horn. The combination of the factory and aftermarket horn makes a notable difference from the stock, but not what I figured I would get by the 139 dB claims.
